First of all, I’d like to define two different kinds of smart watches. The ones wich are fully operational by itselfs, and the others that are like an accessory for your smartphone. Both use android system, but in my opinion, in very different ways.
I’m watch will be on the second group of smart watches. It connects by bluetooth to your smartphone android, but also works with Blackberry and iPhone. With this connection, it’s like you have a second screen for your smartphone in your wrist, and you will be able to do a lot of things without having to catch your “real” phone from your pocket.
I’m watch runs its own android version OS, I’m Droid. A very customized version adapted to the needs of this smartwatch. Among other, lets you know the caller’s name and number and the ability to answer or end a call, make a call throw the address book, receive notifications from facebook™ or twitter™, and of course, show you a fullscreen clock… Also you can download new apps from the I’m market.

I want one!
If yoy are going to purchase one, it’s available now in seven colors for 349$ plus 30$ for shipment if you’re on USA, or 299€ plus 10€ for shipment in Europe. For other countries you may check on the web store.
Well, except the red one, wich costs 469$… Why this is more expensive?, maybe because it’s “red ferrari”…?, but the worst part is they don’t raise the price in euro! I don’t know if there’s a mistake or it will be the real price they are going to sell the watches, because like they claim on the web, “the offer ends on 30 june 2012″…
They are pretty the same, it only changes the construction material and obviously the weight. They’re available in different colors of rubber bands. The materials and the prices for I’m tech are:
- Magnesium 649$
- Titanium 899$
- Titanium special edition 1099$
- Carbonium 1399$
And for the I’m jewel series:
- Silver 1999$
- Gold 16999$
- Gold and diamonds 19999$
Summary and conclusions
I like the idea of having an ”interactive second screen” for my smartphone, and be able to do simply things directly on my wrist without catching the phone from the wallet or purse. On the other hand, you have to carry two devices instead of one… I think the idea is to choose one or the other, not carry both…
So, it’s worth for 349$??? Well I can say sincerely that not to me… I’d prefer having a full operational smart watch with android so I don’t have to be attached to a smartphone, and if I want to do anything else that requires a big screen and better CPU, I will catch the “big” smartphone or tablet.
Despite all of this, I wouldn’t mind to have one in my hands to prove me wrong ;D, and of course, everyone is different and have its needs or preferences…
